Our goal is to position students to provide high-quality patient care to a diverse clientele. Students will learn how to monitor patient health by checking blood pressure, body temperature, and other vital signs. They will learn how to provide basic care and comfort, identify and communicate patient concerns, document patient care, and maintain patient health records.

Program Requirements

Students who wish to enroll in the Licensed Practical Nurse program must first successfully complete a State Tested Nurse Aid/Assistant training program (minimum 75-hour course). The STNA program provides fundamental healthcare training and exposes students to normal situations encountered in the healthcare environment. Students who may be uncertain about a career in healthcare benefit from the short-term commitment and smaller investment the STNA program provides. This prerequisite is intentional to allow students to experience the realities of a career in healthcare before they make the commitment and investment required of the Licensed Practical Nurse program.
Note: Eastland-Fairfield will offer a State Tested Nurse Assistant class (at an additional cost) prior to the start of the Licensed Practical Nurse program for those who need it. Please visit our STNA program webpage for additional information.
Alternative Qualifications
Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant credentials can be used to meet the STNA requirement.
